Wonder Woods Slot Review

Wonder Woods Slot

With one of the newer releases of Microgaming’s partner Just for the Win, reel spinners can venture into a magical forest where they will find a profusion of luscious grapes, oranges, and cherries that would hopefully reward them with worthwhile cash prizes. This time around, the software developers have decided to tone things down a notch, or at least where the gameplay is concerned.

Wonder Woods is light on special features but its creators have once again compensated for this omission by crafting a visually appealing game that truly pops off your screen, especially if you are playing on a mobile device. And yes, Wonder Woods is indeed optimized for play on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

Other than that, this laid back release can offer you a betting range of $0.10 to $100 and 20 fixed lines you can score payouts on. The maximum you can extract from this slot on a lucky day stands at 400x your stake, which is not particularly impressive. Nonetheless, there is a small compensation in the form of Mystery Symbols, Sticky Mystery icons, and a round of up to 12 free spins.

Symbols and Winning Combinations of Treasures of Wonder Woods Slot

Winning CombinationsThe theme of Wonder Woods is not immediately apparent when one loads the game. It seems like a curious combination of fruits and magic. The five transparent reels are pasted on a backdrop that shows a dense woodland populated by what looks like magical trees, with luminescent sap flowing through their trunks and branches.

As for the regular symbols, these are all visually well-crafted and easy on the eye. On the top-pay side, we have an icon with the Wonder Woods logo and the fruits, all of which pay for three to five matches. The beautifully designed logo returns 20x your total bet for five-of-a-kind whereas the oranges, the grape clusters, and the cherries pay out 15x, 9x, and 6x the bet, respectively.

On the lower-pay spectrum, we have the familiar A, K, Q, and J that yield prizes of 4x, 3x, 2.5x, and 2x your stake. The symbols pay when the matches occur from the leftmost to the rightmost reel. Naturally, Just for the Win has incorporated a wild symbol into the gameplay of Wonder Woods.

It is nicely styled, with the word “WILD” sitting on top of some green foliage. As is usually the case, the wild can replace regular symbols to help you score more wins. This one also pays 20x your bet for five-of-a-kind.

Bonus Features of Treasures of Wonder Woods Slot

Bonus imageThe game designers of Just for the Win have crafted several special symbols to add to the entertainment value of Wonder Woods and keep players’ engaged in the gameplay. The first of these is the Mystery Symbol, represented by a large question mark. This mysterious symbol can appear randomly at any stage of the base game or the round of free spins.

When it does, it can reshape into any other icon except for the one that triggers the free spins. If multiple Mystery Symbols hit the reels during the same spin, they transform into the same matching icon. This greatly enhances your chances of forming a winning combination.

As previously mentioned, Wonder Woods also features free spins. These are triggered whenever three, four, or five yellow Free Spins icons land anywhere on the reels within the same round. You get 8, 10, or 12 bonus rounds, depending on how many special icons you have unlocked the feature with.

You are then taken to a new screen that shows you the mystical forest at night, with fireflies glowing here and there in the air. The cool thing about this feature is that when any Mystery Symbols hit the reels, they get stuck to their places for the remainder of your free spins. If you manage to pick some of these icons early on, you can pocket some rather satisfying gains at the end of your free spins.

And one last thing that we particularly liked about Wonder Woods – whenever the Sticky Mystery Symbols fill a reel entirely, they become wild and remain in position. This greatly enhances Wonder Woods’ winning potential.

Verdict

And now for our final verdict. Wonder Woods is one of these slot releases that lack a distinctive personality due to its tired fruit theme. With that said, the game is still playable, largely thanks to its great animations and charming visuals. We were not impressed by the jackpot of 400x the wager but we still think this Microgaming/Just for the Win release might find a fan base among spinners, who are keen on classic slots.
